Help with Hotel in Barcelona
Hey Guys:
I am going to be in spain for 4 days in March (2nd week). I have read all the threads, and have a general idea where to stay. However my issue is how I do I find these hotels. For example, when I go to Orbitz, Hotels.com and they all say Centre City/Barcelona, where do I find these hotels in Barri Gotic and Las Ramblas or other areas. Also, I dont want to spend more then $125 on hotels a night. I have never been there before, so any advice but be helpful

Hotel Continental is a nice, moderate 3-star hotel that's definitely in your price range, and it's in a great location at the top of the Ramblas at Placa Catalunya, and it's definitely in your price range. From there you can walk to the Barri Gotic and the Eixample.
Hotel Suizo is right in the middle of the Barri Gotic at Placa Jaume, is a little nicer than the Continental but is still within your price range. If you did a google search, each of those hotels has its own website and that's where you'll probably find the best rates for them.

Hotels in Paris are pricier than Barcelona, and there are SOOOO many of them, but a few that I've stayed at that might suit your needs are the California St. Germain, right in the Latin Quarter (a great spot for dining and shopping). The rooms are typically small, but very nice and the location is great. The Abbatial St. Germain is also very nice, it's right around the corner from the California and is a little cheaper.
A great bargain was the Derby Eiffel, which is affiliated with Best Western. It's a nice 3-star with rooms that are bigger than average. It's cheaper than either the California or Abbatial (about $110=$120 p/night). It's located in the Eiffel Tower (10-minute walk) neighborhood around the corner from the Ecole Militaire metro station and the Rue Cler market. I found this area to be much less interesting and lively than the Latin Quarter, but there are a number of good restaurants and brasseries there, and it's a convenient sightseeing base because of the metro station. The hotel staff was great - uber friendly and unbelievably helpful.
