Help with getting from Barcelona airport to Sants to Gerona
Leaving tomorrow OCT 1. Need some quick help on navigating our way from airport in Barcelona to trains.
Will be taking shuttle from Barcelona to Sants station. Any advise on how to get to the train in airport. Is it clearly marked and in English/ Which terminal is it in?
Once we get to Sants is it confusing like Rome was.
Can we buy our tickets there or should I buy them before I leave today? Are there signs clearly marked for trains to Gerona?
Do you need to get tickets stamped before getting on train?
Any help will be appreciated so I don't get totally lost. Thanks

If you can't take the direct bus (which would be the most convenient solution):
Airport train station is in/near Terminal 2.
If you land at Terminal 1, you need to take a free shuttle bus to T2 first.
I am not sure if you can buy medium distance train tickets for all the way to Girona already at the airport's train station.
If not, you need to buy a single ticket to Barcelona first (costs around €1.50).
Then get your train ticket to Girona at Sants station.
Either from the vending machines, or from staffed counter. If you prefer the latter, only go to counters which display "Media Distancia" or "Mitjana Distànicia".
Tickets have to be stamped, but you have no other way but to slide them thru at a turnstile to access the platform again.
Caveat: There are a few long-distance / international trains on that mainline to Girona. A medium-distance is not valid on those.
But you can use ANY train named "MD" or "Regional".
All trains will go beyond Girona to either Portbou or Cerbere. So expect those final destinations to appear on displays (and Girona only in fine print).
You can check and print the timetable at

according to the above link, the bus from T1 to Girona departs only 3 times a day.
If you land at T1, there is a shuttle bus to train for Sants.

Saints is big and often a " spot" for pick-pockets
To buy tickets for Girona look for the counter that sells ticket for the SAME DAY TRAVEL. ( trains almost every hour}.
I don't remember what was in English. Write the time of the departure and destination down to show ....don't expect everyone who works at the station to speak English .
There is a long walk from the station in Girona to Old Town.

Thanks VERY helpful info.
Danon we are stay at Cuitat de Gerona Hotel. According to the map i looked at it appears to be close enough to the train station to walk. I tried to click on the contact link to the hotel to ask but i got an error page. Would you have any idea about this hotel its is on Nord C?
