I need help with moderate priced ldogings in edinburgh. I will have 5 people, so will want a triple and a double. I would like to in a central location with in walking distance to attractions, restuarants, etc. I will be there with my 3 kids, ages 20, 18, and 16, so I assume they would like to be able to go out on their own. Has anyone stayed at 38 Dublin street? I haven't been able to get much feedback on it.

When are you there? For how many nights? and what is your budget? "Moderate" means many things to many people . . . . .

Funny the things you don't think of...We will be in Edinburgh July 13-17, and by moderate I would like to stay under $400 per night, but a little over would be ok.
I don't know anything about it but the location is lovely - right in the heart of the New Town.
That is a a so so budget for a double and triple hotel rooms. But it is a very generous budget for a 2 or 3 bedroomed flat. W/ five I'd definitely consider renting an apartment. Here are a few that rent by the night all well w/i your budget. But there are many others easily found by googling terms like "Edinburgh Holiday flat", "Edinburgh vacation rental", "Self catering edinburgh" etc.

Meant to say - that is a so so budget for a centrally located hotel, but most B&Bs will be a lot less.
I can't personally vouch for the place, as I haven't stayed there yet (will in June), but someone who posts on this board stayed at Castle View Guest House and gave it good reviews. I checked out their web site, http://www.castleviewgh.co.uk/ , and TripAdvisor, and liked what I saw. Might be worth looking at as they do have the triples you are interested in.
I completely agree with janis re renting an apartment. You should be able to find a very nice, three bedroom place within your budget. My three kids, who are pretty close in age to your three, much prefer staying in a flat. They like being able to veg out when they feel like it, get snacks, get up and have breakfast in a leisurely way. Plus, you get a lot more space for less money. Many flats also have a washer/dryer and so you can catch up on laundry if you really HAVE to! I was trying to stay in an inn or hotel, since we are renting apartments in Rome and Florence, just to have a little change. Also I thought it would be nice to have a front desk for ideas re: dining etc. I have looked at the Knights residence, but I like the location of 38 Dublin better
