Help with accomodations in StMoritz and Zermat, also, has anyone stayed at the SunheadB&B in Amsterdam?

Hi everyone! We are still working on our plans for Mid Sept Euro Trip... Looks like we will need a place to stay in StMoritz just for the night, and Zermat (Start and end of Glacial Express ). Also, has anyone stayed in the Sunhead in Amsterdam? Any suggestions are so welcome. Thanks in Advance. Kate

I don't know how much that hotel is, I was with a tour, but the Schlosshotel in Zermatt seems to be perfect location-wise, really close to both train stations and the main street, bar downstairs, free Internet, restaurant next door.

I had a room with the view of the Matterhorn and a balcony facing it. Not every room had that view. The room itself was small, the bathroom with whirpool tab and 2 sinks, 2 robes provided. Some rooms with fireplaces. Very comfortable bed. Buffet breakfast - don't know if included, or for our group only, we were off-season.

Hi SweetKate - I would highly recommend the Hotel Couronne in Zermatt. We were just there about 3 weeks ago, and can say it was just lovely! You can find info at the zermatt.com site, when you do a search for hotels. I think it's a 3* hotel, but could be 4*. I just can't remember.

The location is great, just past the river down the street from the church.

One word of advice: this hotel is set a bit higher than others, so the Matterhorn view is quite nice. Many of the hotels are much lower and very obscured by other hotels. Just like when you get an ocean view room in Hawaii, this can be deceiving. But the Couronne had good views on the view side.

If you need more info, I'd be happy to fill you in.

Happy hotel hunting!

We like the Hotel Biner in Zermatt, which is a short walk from the train station. Great breakfasts, multi-lingual staff, hot tub, pool and sauna in the basement.

Their A+ catagory rooms have nice views of the Matterhorn.

Hi SweetKate,

For St Moritz, try the Waldhaus am See, a three-star hotel very close to the train station and on the lake. Website at www.waldhaus-am-see.ch. I haven't stayed there, but I have cycled past it, and I've seen it recommended here a few times.

Definitely try the Hotel Waldhaus am See in St. Moritz - an excellent recommendation. I am afraid that they accept reservations of a week minimum only, though.

In this case the four star Hotel La Margna is another very good choice - right next to the railway station.
