Help with 9 day Ireland Itinerary

Jump to last reply

Please Help! I'm trying to plan a surprise trip for my husband who's family is from the Kilkenny area of Ireland. He's never been before. I came up with this rough itinerary, but please let me know if I'm missing anything or being too optimistic with driving distances.

Arrive Dubin. 2 nights in Dublin, then pick up rental car

spend 3 nights in Kilkenny (to give us plenty of time to see the "family" area, could drive to Waterford, etc).

Here's where I'm unsure. We could do 2 nights in Cork/Kinsale, 2 nights in Kenmare/Killarney or 1 night in each. Any suggestions? I drove through Cork/Cobh Heritage museum might interest my husband, but Killarney is such a beautiful area with the lakes and small towns... I think he'd like that too.

Finally, spend 1 or 2 nights in Doolin or Ennis (which is better?) and then fly out of Shannon.

Any suggestions are appreciated!
