Help with 2nd European Spot
Hey!
I will be in London for two weeks until the first week of September. I currently have 9 more days to play with and would love a Country in Europe that offers a great mix of city life and beach. I know 9 days is not a lot to play with so im open to suggestions/ how many days to stay in each spot/ Countries/ beautiful beaches/ things to do! Right now given the time frame, Spain is in the lead. Would love to hear ideas!

I recognise that I'm getting a bit boring but I suggest Valencia.
lots to see in the city itself, both modern and old, great tapas bars and cafes, and good restaurants too, interesting day trips by train, and a wonderful beach.

Beach wise, I recommend Algarve,Portugal. I just returned from the area, but there are no major cities. But the beautiful, clean, and well maintained beaches are (I believe they said 88 beaches in Algarve) everywhere. Not crowded. Not expensive. No rain until October.

9 days? Barcelona and the Costa Brava comes to mind: city, culture, nightlife, dining, urban beach plus the option to escape to the coastal towns of the Costa Brava.
Or maybe the Athens and Peloponnese, there are various posts on that itinerary, which I had never really thought of prior to joining Fodors but seems like a spectacular trip and now firmly in my mind for a return trip to Greece.

Barcelona is an excellent idea, so is San Sebastián, some of the finest city beaches on the continent, the culinary heartland of Spain and European Capital of culture 2016.

And September is the Euskal Jaiak (Basque Culture & Sports) festival in the start of the month and the International Film Festival towards the end of the month.
Euskal Jaiak September 1-11 really kicks off on September 3 - on Sagardo Eguna/Cider Day - at noon there is free cider for everyone in the Plaza de la Constitución in the Parte vieja/Old town: http://www.donostiakultura.com/index...id=396&lang=en
The San Sebastián film festival is September 16-24: http://www.sansebastianfestival.com/in/

I think Barcelona is a great idea, also, as it is a great cosmopolitan city with a lot to do, but there is beach right that at the city.
the beach at Nice is not very nice, it's not sand but rocks, sometimes called pebbles euphemistically but they were not pebble-size IMO
