Help planning Rennes to Cognac

Jump to last reply

Hello. I have read many of your wonderful trip reviews and therefore I am having trouble narrowing down my itinerary for the first stage of an upcoming trip. I hope you can help. After arriving in Rennes late afternoon on March 29, we will then have 4 whole days prior to arrival in Cognac at a nice B&B on April 3. We have a 2 night stay in Cognac prior to leaving for Marseille and then Dijon. What do you recommend for the 4 and 1/2 days between Rennes and Cognac and where should I book hotels? We will have a car for this stage of the trip. I like the idea of seeing Rennes, Vitré, Josselin, Rochefort-en-Terre, Concarneau, Pont-Aven, Guérande, Nantes, Île de Noirmoutier, Île de Ré, La Rochelle, Fontenay-le-Comte. We like a combination of picturesque towns and villages, combined with culture, history, markets, and good restaurants. I know less is more but I want to see as much as possible. On the other hand, I will return for future trips to France. Please tell me what would be your priorities to see and don't hesitate to add other sites. Merci beaucoup!
