Help PARIS Apartment Experts - will be our first

I have decided that I am finally going to try to find an apartment for our upcoming week during holiday season. We like the 1st and 6th areas and I have been searching for a few days now and all that I have accomplished is a huge headache. My husband likes the Louve area the best, it is close to many areas that we like to visit. I am asking for suggestions of apartments for around 350 - 400 Euros per night. I found one from a recent post but the bedroom and bath were across a courtyard and while it looks wonderful in the dead of winter doesn't sound appealing to me. I wouldn't want to climb a lot of stairs as I have some knee issues. If you have stayed someplace that you think is special could you please send me the link and I will burn the midnight oil again tonight. I should add that it is just the two of us, would like a nice size with view. Many thanks.

I was going to suggest the apartment we are renting for 6 weeks in the 1st - but I think we'll be in it! (the holidays you refer to are Christmas, I presume? - if not here's the link

Otherwise - here is a link to the homeaway.com listings for other apartments in the 1st

Also - here is a link to a lengthy thread re Paris apartments

This agency has several apartments with views on the Palais Royal gardens and others in the St-Germain area.

We have stayed in several of the Parisvacationapartments apartments and have enjoyed each one. The location at Palais Royal is perfect for your husbands preference! (in fact it could not be better short of staying in the Lovre itself)

350-400 Euros a night? I don't know any in that price range. I know a really good one in the 6th, but for around $1700. a week, payable in either U.S. dollars or Euros. If you're interested in one at that price range, then let me know and I'll post it. I don't know if you've set your budget at 350-400 Euros a night because you feel that that would be the normal range for an apartment or for some other reason. Happy Travels!

Well I thought that 400 Euros is about 525 USD a night and thought I could most likely get something....that would be about 3500 per week. I wish I could take one of the apartment near the Eiffel tower and plop them down in the sixth. I know that I surely need to do this soon because of holiday. I am going to snooze and lose and be really angry with myself come December, but I do see by the post that everyone sort of looks and is somewhat reluctant to push the button. I looked at several last night and I don't really want to be in some huge museum looking building with hundreds of apartments, sort of had in mind a smaller complex.

Huh? "Take one of the apartments near the Eiffel Tower and plop THEM down in the sixth". The Eiffel Tower is in the 7th and "THEM"? How many people are going to be in the apartment? I thought you were looking for an apartment for two people. Maybe I misread something. Happy Travels!

The reason I commented that I didn't know of an apartment in the 350-400 Euro range, per night, is that that's a lot of money. My apartment, in the 6th, comes out to around US $215., a night , based on a week rental. Happy Travels!

I am sorry if I did not exactly get the right point across, if you will see I have not stayed in an apartment. I am by no means an expert on Paris, have been there six times, stayed in Hotels and took Taxis (just looking, not paying attention to detail of distance), stayed mostly near Louve and Hotel Luxembourg Parc. So No I probably don't know what I am talking about but then if I did we wouldn't have this disconnect. I love the Paris Perfect apartment but I didn't believe they were walking distance to the Louve, and St Germain area that we walk about in, that was the only point I was making. There are only two of us, and the plop down meant, taking Champagne Apartment and putting it down next to Luxembourg Parc, it was just a tongue and cheek statement. So I am back to finding a nice apartment near Luxembourg or Louve or Rue St. Honore, and still absolutely appreciate any help.

No need to spend that kind of money on an apt. Try

http://www.vacationinparis.com/infop/one_br.htm

They are so easy to deal with and have lots in the 1 and 6

We too had a good experience dealing with Vacation in Paris. We rented an apartment near Parc Monceau, in the 1st arrondissement, that was quite lovely. The website organizes apartments by arrondissements (sectors) and has a "luxury" section of higher tier rentals.

As you know, Paris is rather compact and most sites and sights are a short walk from the metro. I suspect many apartments in the 1st, 2nd, 5th or 6th would fit your needs.

Have a great trip.

I also recommend Paris Vacation Apartments but they book up early. We also had good luck with www.parisianflats.com and you might also look at www.guestapartments.com. Most of their apartments are on the Ile St. Louis--still very central and many have wonderful views. They get good reviews here too.

Sorry the correct website for Parisian Flat is www.parisianflat.com (no "s").

Also, did you realize that ParisPerfect does have some apartments in the 6th? It's not really clear from their home page. You have to hunt.

Bummer I missed Vacation in Paris ID 235 ...and they have a list of others but I didn't see anything in the area that I want. I looked at St Honore but it was not to my liking. So I will keep looking, thank for your help.

There is no need to spend that on an apartment, but if that's the level you want, it's your money. I don't understand thse kind of comments. Anyone who can budget for that is not going to be remotely happy in some of the ones that are more like 100 euro a night. And the sentence about the Eiffel Tower made perfect sense, because it is not in the 6th, but she wanted the apts in the 6th, not the 7th, and apartments is plural so would be "them". geez, what is with these kind of inane criticisms.

For suggestions, here is one agency that specializes in high-end apts on Ile St Louis, which is a good compromise for you, and near the Louvre, they have ones ranging from around 200-400 euro.
http://www.guestapartment.com/

I have the URL of another luxury apt place but its at work so I will have to find it next week.

Christina: The comment on the money has been cleared up. What was not clear was if the OP was setting that amount of budget for an apartment because she thought that that's the normal range for an apartment to cost or if the budget was set because that's the amount she wants to spend. People are only trying to get some clarity and help out here. And is VIP#235 in her same budget range? I can't imagine a VIP, one-bedroom apartment, being in her budget range. And she did respond favorably to it by stating, "Bummer I missed Vacation in Paris ID#235". Did I misinterpret that too, Christina?

And the sentence of, " I wish I could take one of the Eiffel Tower apartment and plop them down in the 6th" was totally unclear to me when I first read it which is why I asked. It was a question of clarification, Christina, not criticism. I'm not the one who bites people's heads off.

Now it's clear that what she meant was that she wishes that she could take one of the apartmentS near the Eiffel Tower and and plop IT down in the 6th. At first I thought that, one interpretation could have been that she wished that she could just take one of those apartments near the Eiffel Tower and plop "him", the husband, down in it, as she seems tired of this whole apartment search, but likes the apartments near the Eiffel Tower. It seems clear to me that the husband likes the Louvre area more than the 6th anyway.

And as for the districts, districts numbers etc, anyone who has been on this forum for any time knows that posters get things mixed up and also sometimes mix up what is in what district. So, we don't even need to go there.

Someone recently asked, on one of the forums, about how to get from CDG, to the 5th, St.Germain, and of course there were those of us who asked if the person meant Blvd. St.Germain in the 5th, or the St. Germain area and maybe posted the wrong district number.

So, before biting someone's head off, Christina, remember that everyone doesn't interpret things the same way that you do and that "your" interpretation could be "one" of several different ones. Happy Travels!

Returntoyourseat: Thanks for the clarification. And I agree with the VIP post. I found it easy to deal with them, too. I had #122 with them and everything went fine. Maybe it would be best to contact them and see what they might be able to find you. You never know, there could be a cancelation and something might open up. Just keep your options open. Good luck on your search. Happy Travels!

I missed out on Splendid Heart of St. Germain, I think that one would have worked for me, it was a VIP. Thanks for all your help, may have to do the hotel again, and check out the areas for myself and pay more attention to detail so to make a better decision. Will search a bit more.

Keep searching. You might get lucky. That's how I found one of my apartments. When I least expected it, there it appeared. Happy Travels!
