Help me to get to Dubrovnik
What would be the best way to get to Dubrovnik leaving from Budapest?
Also, I'll have 3 days in Croatia. What should I do?
I have to make it to Milan. Do I necessarily have to go to Split?

You can fly with SkyEurope directly from Budapest to Dubrovnik. SkyEurope also flies from Dubrovnik to Milan. The only problem may be that there are not flights everyday. Austrian airlines flies from Budapest via Vienna to Dubrovnik. I think Austrian may have one or more flights a day during the summer.
You might also consider taking the train to Zagreb, than renting a car than driving down to Split with a stop in Plitvice. (Could posssibly rent a car and drive from Budapest but I never checked out this possibility) Zagreb to Split is about 4 hours w/o a stop. Split to Dubrovnik is about 3 hours w/o stops.

We flew from Budapest to Dubrovnik on Sky Europe in June. They were great. Be aware though that they fly out of Terminal 1, not Terminal 2 in Budapest. The terminals are a couple of miles apart so you can't just walk between them.
We paid only $50 for our tickets but booked them months in advance.

Sky Europe doesn't fly from Budapest to Dubrovnik after the middle of September. We are taking a train to Bratislava and then getting the Sky Europe flight to Dubrovnik on the 19th of September. Sorry I don't know anything about getting to Milan.
