Can you help me decide which is the best way to get from Orly to my hotel in arrondisement 9 (Pigalle area) around 8:30 pm?
We are four (2 adults and 2 kids) and we are looking for a nice price-convenience -time way to get to our hotel
These are the ones I found out:
Orlyval + RER : around 30 Euros + RER tickets from Anthony to Gare du Nord + taxi from there to our hotel. Estimated time
Paris Shuttle: 60 euros Estimated time: 1h15
Taxis: around 40 euros (is that true? if it is so, could you recommend me a decent taxi company? even better if it's one that has a fixed price for the trip, I don't like meters, I think that there is a possibility that the taxi driver can take the longest way to charge more ... I know it's probably only the minority of the cases, but makes me feel nervous)
There were other ways that arrived to stations far away from the pigalle station.
Which transport means would you take?

Taxi, no questions asked. There is a taxi line outside the station. You wait there and will be assigned a cab. There are no fixed fares.
I think that there is a possibility that the taxi driver can take the longest way to charge more
Do you have anything tangible, any credible story, or certifiable account of anyone being cheated by a Parisian taxi driver, hired from the official airport taxi queue? I use taxis and my Parisian friends use taxis.
Depending upon the ages of your children, the train will cost anywhere from 33€ to 44€ and take the longest amount of time for you to reach your hotel. You do not need to take a taxi to Pigalle from Gare du Nord. Simply connect to M2 from La Chapelle, exit Pigalle. Adding a taxi onto the train will probably bump the cost another 10€ or more depending upon whether or not the driver decides to charge you, or not, for the 4th passenger (3€) and the luggage (1€ per bag placed into the trunk after the first which is at no additional charge).
Meter or not, a shuttle will be your expensive option, and least reliable.
The base taxi fare from ORY will more likely hover around 30€ plus the 4th person and luggage charges. On the high side, the total fare could approach 40€ but as Phread says, there are no fixed fares.
At the time of arrival (8:30 p.m.) taxi would likely be your best option. You won't have to deal with traffic jams or anything at that time. Meter costs rise if the taxi is sitting in traffic, they don't usually drive you out of the way to raise the bill.
Thank you. I will definitely take the taxi!
