Help-going to Paris next week

I know that people on here do not like this question, but what should I pack. I am looking for advice on what to wear and what not to wear. I know the most important thing is to be comfortable and that I will always look like an American but I still like to dress appropriate (like if I am in a more concervative country I will not wear skimpy clothing.) Any advice is really appreciated. Also, what do Parisians wear on their days off?

See http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...2&tid=34632312 - - 34 answers to the first time you asked this question, three weeks ago.

I see that you are (relatively) new here, so quite possibly, you don't understand about "click on your own name". It's a valuable tip that Fodors fails to provide to you when they send you that initial e-mail confirming your registration.

Best wishes,

Rex

My daughter and I just returned from a two week trip to London, Paris and Rome. Whatever you bring, please make sure it keeps you cool! The heat was unbearable in all three cities when we were there, and we were washing out our clothes every evening. Bring clothes that can be rinsed out and dry quickly!

Good Luck, I hope that your hotel has AC..Just came back from Paris and it was very HOT..
Dress for comfort, summer dresses, capri, light tops and comfortable shoes or sandals..
BTW,do not listen to the fashion police, black is NOT IN, bright colors are very popular, tangerine, lime green, orange, yellow etc..,
Have a wonderful time despite the weather.

To my knowledge, black is much more likely to be "in" during the fall/winter months and perhaps at night, just like us Americans...and brighter colors, whether it's orange or hot pink, will vary with the trends for spring and summer. Bright colors are great year-round in Miami Beach.

I'd just dress lightly, take a very light rain jacket to wear if it rains, but take plenty of capri pants, light tops, and comfy shoes. I'm a natural fibers kinda-gal, as I hate being hot, and cotton and linen fabrics breathe better. I know in most of Europe, women still don't wear a lot of shorts, but it isn't unheard of.

Paris has "seen it all" when it comes to fashion, and while there are trends, you'd be hard pressed to wear anything that will draw stares, although an American sports team jersey will probably do that.

I just tend to try and not have a bullseye on me that says "tourist" just to help the pickpockets pick someone else.

Have fun,

Jules

Light fabrics that pack well (cotton, linen, some lightweight knits, polyester), light or neutral colors to mix and match pieces (tan, navy, olive). Slacks, skirts or capris with tanks, vests, tshirt, knit tops. One cardigan or light weight jacket for traveling. A couple pair of sandals and/or comfortable shoes.
