I don't believe that this strike will affect the metro, as it is run by RATP, a seperate company from SNCF - French rail. The only thing I'm not sure on is if it will affect the RER services, I can't recall which company runs them.
The RER is also RATP.
Actually, the RER is run more by SNCF than RATP. I think SNCF completely manages lines C, D and E and runs the ends of lines A and B. So it won't affect the metro, but in fact it can (and is) affecting some RER lines. Right now it's affecting line D, but usually that means only some of the trains are running, not that it's completely shut down. I read the French news today and I definitely remember that today some of the trains on line D are not running due to this. Sometimes other workers strike in sympathy, also, so you never know. The only good thing is that often these strikes are short-lived. Right now it shouldn't affect your within Paris travel plans. Actually, there are strike and other problem delay updates on both the RATP and SNCF Websites, I know on www.ratp.fr you go to the "trafic" section and if you do, right now you'll see the banner notifying of the problems on line D.
