HELP: Bus transport within Galway?

Jump to last reply

We have finally secured a reasonable quote on an Avis rental car (via Auto Europe) for our trip to Ireland in August. However, the planned drop-off in Galway seems inconvenient. The Avis drop-off location is listed as Windsor Galway, Monivea Road, Ballybrit. This is apparently a car dealership located many, many blocks from where we plan to take a shuttle out to the Aran Islands for a Saturday overnight on Inismore. The shuttles leaves from Eyre Square in the middle of Galway. Timing is an issue--we'd like to take the 10:30 shuttle out of Galway to Rossaveel. Since our day begins in Kinvara, we will need to drive from there into the Avis drop-off location, then find a way to get to the shuttle departure point downtown. Is anyone familiar with what transportation alternatives we may have? Is there a city bus along Monivea Road into central Galway? And before anyone suggests it, our schedule will NOT permit us to keep the rental car an extra day, which would admittedly get us to Rossaveel without the hassle of needing a cab or bus to catch the downtown shuttle.
