Heathrow to Oxford?

When I first get to the UK in June I need to go directly from Heathrow to Oxford. How should I do this? During our brief transatlantic call the B&B landlady mentioned a bus, but I'm not sure how to find out about times or fares or to book ahead if necessary. Any advice appreciated.

Ron

The last time i was in London, I booked a bus ticket to Oxford from one of the travel agencies in London . There were daily trips to Oxford, and they leave in the first half of the day, mostly. I can't remember the name of the agency, but i think most of them have bus trips to Oxford from central London city. U can check with the British Tourist Authority (they are really good) for names of agencies to book in advance.
I think there is a bus from Heathrow to Victoria Coach Station, where, I imagine, you can take another bus to Oxford. VCS is a block or so south of the Victoria Train Station.
Mr. Haines? The details?

Ron,
It depends on which terminal you will arrive at LHR, if it is T1-3, go straight to central bus terminal, if it is T4, the bus terminal is just level below. It is X70 service and deliver you to oxford city centre, ask for payment of period return, otherwise you will get 24hr return ticket. It serves every half an hour, at Bay 10 of central bus terminal (T1-3) and also from T4.

Have a good time in the city of spires.

Ron,

Ignore all replies except Pat's, which is the only one that got it right. I have only taken the bus in the opposite direction, but there was no need for a reservation. I can't remember the fare, but since it is the cheapest and most convenient mode, what does it matter?

ron

There is a cityLink bus service from each terminal in Heathrow to Gloucester Green in Oxford. There a buses about every 30 minutes during the day. Fare is about £10.
