Heathrow to Normandy to CDG Please help with transportation details

Jump to last reply

Our plan for May 2014 is to fly into Heathrow rent a car for a week and explore southern England. Then we want to go to Normandy and explore that area with a different rental car.

Should we rent the car at Heathrow and return at Heathrow and take the Eurostar to Paris. Then rent a car and drive to Normandy?

Or can we rent the car at Heathrow and return near Dover and take the Eurostar from there?

Or should we take the ferry across the channel and rent a car in Calais, and drop it off at CDG when we fly out?

Where is the best location (city) to rent the car in France if we will be arriving via train and flying out of CDG? We have another week in France.

we have already spent time in Paris and London so do not plan on time in these cities.

Need some ideas on the best way to plan this trip. Not sure if the Eurostar of ferry would be more cost effective, plus the issue of car rental and drop off.
Thanks for any suggestions
