Heathrow Layover

I have read over postings and still have a few questions . We are travelling an overnight AC flight into Heathrow in business class. We arrive at 11:15am and depart for Johannesburg at 1800 then onto Capetown on SAA We have already decided to stay at the airport, however I"d like a shower and a nap. Normally this kind of ticket permits you to use the lounges. I am wondering if it makes more sense to book a bed in the lounge for 3 hours rather than go to the Yotel. My figuring is then I wouldn't have to go outside security? I'm trying to minimize time and confusion. Is it a first come, first serve basis and do all lounges have this feature? I assume I'm restricted to Star Alliance lounges? If we decide on the Yotel I assume it's just like leaving the airport to stay there and one must go through immigration and back through regular security to connect to the next flight. Thanks for hopefully providing clarity to this detail of our vacation.
