You could look up National express coaches (http://www.nationalexpress.com), There are a few buses a day (one at 8:45) that take about 2hours 15 minutes.
If you used a train you would need to take the bus to Woking station and change to the Poole Train. This might be slightly quicker, but is likely to be more expensive.
I was looking for my DH who leaves Tuesday--national express looks like it has buses quite regularly, at least in the morning hours. I entered "Parkstone Poole" which is one of the train stops to check schedule and times.
This is an instance where national express buses are a good choice otherwise it's the rail link bus to Woking then Woking to Poole. Longer and more expensive.
Never thought I would admit this but even I can see common sense sometimes.
Correction--one of the things he wanted me to check was going into Waterloo by tube then out by train to Poole. (Don't ask). That was the route that was much longer, by over an hour.
