Heathrow -Luton where to stay overnight?
Hello again!
My husband, my 2 year-old son and myself arrive at Heathrow on the 16th of July and leave the next day at 12:30 pm from Luton to get to Rimini, Italy. Would anyone have a suggestion as to what area to stay in for that one night?
Some ideas: Near Victoria station, since there is a train that leaves regularly the next day to Luton. However, I think it's a 90 min coach from Heathrow to Victoria, vs 15 minute express train to Paddington. I would be very grateful if anyone had any experience with this.
Thanks very much,
Montrealer

The train to Luton doesn't leave from Victoria Station, but from Kings Cross. After taking the train, you then take a free 5-minute shuttle bus ride to the airport.
However, there is a bus to Luton Airport that you can catch at Victoria Coach Station (a couple blocks from Victoria Station). At least one poster has reported success with this. There are other locations from which you can catch buses to Luton Airport as well.
My advice is that anything that involves London transport requires that you allow extra time buffers.
Look up EasyBus and Terravision to find info about buses to Luton.
Look up First Capital Connect for info about the train to Luton.
If you do decide to stay near Victoria, I doubt you'd want to take the National Express to get from Heathrow to there. With a 2-year-old, I'd suggest a car service as recommended elsewhere on this board.

WillTravel's suggestion of a car service is a good one. If you pay cash with www.justairports.com, it will cost you less than two adult tickets on the Heathrow Express.
Here is the URL for a page, with links, that lists all your London-Luton transport options: http://tinyurl.com/2d5o2c.

TimS and WillTravel,
Thank-you - what a great idea to hire a car service. I imagined it would be so much more expensive. We will all thank you for a better night's sleep.
I read in another post that many [people recommended taking the train over the bus to Luton, and that it is easier to take it from Blackfriars' tube/train station than King's Cross (less walking). Might either of you have any experience with this?
Thanks very much again,

It just occured to me that some of the "extra" walking around the King's Cross Thameslink station could be due to the construction in the area getting ready for Eurostar services to be moved from Waterloo to St. Pancras.
