Ok me and the wife are gonna do 15 days at least... We're going to Visit a friend who's living in Dublin (3-4) nights I'd say. Now the hard part is what else from there as far as europe keep in mind time and we don't want to spend fortune. 2 years ago we did london, barcelona, madrid, ,munich, and amsterdam . We considering london again for 2 nights but could do without. Now obviously I'm assuming we have to stay near due to travel etc any suggestions in Western Europe.? In our minds Paris+Normandy but can't think of nothing else perhP Brussels anything else would help! Thanks so much

Have a look at www.skyscanner.net and plug in flights from Dublin to "Everywhere", and select the timeframe as the entire month. You'll get a listing of cheap flights starting with the cheapest countries.

Ireland is a cheap place to tool around. I paid on average $50 a night just now for top-rated B&B accommodation (outside of Dublin, where prices are much higher). Prices for accommodation are vastly high in London. If budget is important, see what cheap flights you can get to fun, interesting, and cheaper alternatives.

Interests? Hiking, food, art, history, theater, beaches, etc.

It seems you have been to mostly cities. What about one or two areas that have lots of smaller villages and sights?
Provence and Andalusia come to mind. The Cotswolds and Bath area of England are interesting.

Or, why not pick one country and explore more in-depth?
You are already in Ireland. Why not explore it fully?

Really, it is kind of wide open - hundreds of things you could do - depends on what you enjoy.

You could easily spend 15 days in Ireland. Scotland? Edinburgh is a good base for a few days as is Glasgow maybe Aberdeen. Oslo? Reykjavik?

I suppose it depends if you want to experience somewhere or just tick a "been to" box.

Suggest you get a couple of good pictorial guide books and some tour brochures (not for scheduling) to identify places that are your must sees.

I can;t imagine not knowing where I must go. Have been to europe more than 100 times and there are still a lot of places that I have to go (never been yet) or have to go back to (things missed or just a place I love).

Agree that knowing your interests and the time of year can help us advise you - otherwise sensible answers are very difficult.

(I love every castle, museum, cathedral and major historical site but won;t hike up anything if you pay me - but will walk miles in a city. Love cities, small towns are OK for a day or so - but sitting in the countryside would bore me stiff. What about you?)

Once again, without knowing your interests or when you are going, it is difficult to make suggestions. But, why not go with your original thought. London, Paris and Normandy would be lovely with the 10 or 11 days you have after visiting your friend in Dublin. You don't need anything else for the time you have available.

Sorry should been more specific, my wife and I enjoy history so historic sites are cool and I like the cities and having some good food etc., I'd say our budget probably like 6-7k for whole trip approx.
Any thoughts on Brussels thrown in there?? THanks friends

Brussels, nice park, cool Tintin museum, penguin museum, good beer and loads of politicians during the week, better at the weekend or when they are resting in Strasbourg (the special French white elephant)

We enjoyed Brussels and you can add in Bruges if it interests you. If you are a city person, Paris is wonderful. With just 10 or 11 days, that would be enough. Remember that you lose most of a day each time you change locations.

If you look on slysxanner for flights from Sublin, you'll see many possibilities. What about Italy or Greece?
So much history in those countries.

I agree with others who say pick a country and explore it in a bit more depth. Personally, I have never warmed up to Brussels, which is largely lacking charm (for me). Besides I was almost victim of a theft from my van (occupied by me at the time) by an older man and his young boy henchman, who tried to get me to unlock the vehicle to examine my "flat" tire (it was not flat).

By contrast, nearby Ghent and Bruges are charming, and I like Antwerp, also not so far away.

In France, you could split your time between Normandy (great sights, good food) – Rouen, Honfleur, Bayeux, D-Day beaches, Mont St. Michel – and the Loire Valley – world-class châteaux, pretty towns of Amboise and Blois, great food, gentle scenery.

As you have only about 10 days after Dublin, my thinking is your reduce your ambitions and get to know a corner of Europe more intimately.
