Have you ever stayed at the Wilbraham Hotel on Sloan in London?

We've spent the last five years looking for a place to stay in London under $150/night. My husband is English, and we usually stay 2-3 days. We've been spectacularly unsuccessful in the past, but I just read about the Wilbraham in a guidebook. Any veterans out there who know it? Any other ideas on places to stay? I love Chelsea, but it's been outside our price range. We'll be there in October.

I don't know whether my comments will be of any use to you or not; I stayed at the Wilbraham way back in 1987....But I really enjoyed it. We had a large, comfortable room attractively decorated in faded floral prints. At the time, the Wilbraham was what I guess we'd call shabby genteel, an atmosphere I found very appealing--like a country house out of an Agatha Christie or Angela Thirkell story. All the other guests we saw were English. I know we never ate there--not even breakfast--because there were so many other options at the same prices. The location was terrific; right near the General Trading Company, very close to Sloane Square. I hope this helps in some way....
