miki......we have thought about it, but even though they now have organized entry by time, a friend that went expressed disappointment because she said nobody left once they got inside and it was very difficult to see anything. I saw the Pissarro today and it was wonderful and not so many people....you could actually see the art......

The Pissarro a Eragny exhibit at the Musee du Luxembourg......maybe about 75 pieces.....very, very nice .......don't know how it will be crowd wise as holidays get closer, but, for now, it was really good access and visibility.

I'm going in May. I've been to some monster exhibitions, like the big Monet at the Grand Palais in 2010 and it just takes some patience. The timed entry and going late day (I'm going on a Wed. night) ought to help. I find people lose steam and stop reading all the labels about 1/3 of the way in.

The other exhibition offered with the Vermeer admission is Valentin du Boulogne. I saw this same show at the Met last year and loved it. He was a contemporary and follower of Caravaggio, only difference being many of his works are huge. I was completely won over by him in that show, so I'm anxious to see it again. Also at the Louvre is the first ever exhibition of the Leiden Collection, a private collection of Dutch Masters. They've been loaning to museums as "Private Collectors" for years, and have just gone public with their ownership of this wonderful collection. And....don't forget the centenary exhibition commemorating Rodin's death at Grand Palais, which opens this week, I believe! The next few months are great to be in Paris!!

I'll be in Paris in mid-May and plan to do the Vermeer exhibition and also the Pissarro, hopefully. Wasn't aware of the Leiden Collection of Dutch Masters, but would certainly love to see that one. But maybe it's on now and will be gone in May? Anyone know?

I just checked and saw that the Leiden Collection will still be on when I'm there. So now I need to figure out times to see these exhibitions and get tickets. So much to see!

I had a ticket to see the Vermeer last week but had to give it away because I was not well. I had the first entry in the morning to hope to avoid the lines. I should find out whether the friend I gave it to went and what her experience was.

A little off topic but maybe you all can help. Does anyone know what the wait times for entry into the Louvre are, for tickets, not security. Debating whether or not to buy tickets ahead of time but am leary of reserving a specific time. This would be for a Monday afternoon. Don't think we would get our money out of Paris Musem pass. Thanks

Just jumping in to add, if you're an art lover and planning to be in Ireland this summer, this exhibition will transfer to Dublin's National Gallery of Ireland from June to September 2017.

Betsy: it really depends on date and hour. It can be from 30 mins to 1h and more. Your best bet is to arrive a little bit before opening time. For buying tickets ahead of time, you can buy it 1 or 2 days ahead, when you're sure of your specific schedule time.

I just purchased a ticket to enter the Louvre the morning of May 15.

Normally I've carried a shoulder bag when I've been there as well as to other museums in Paris, but I know there are security restrictions as to the allowable size of such bags.

My current shoulder bag is 12 inches by 16 inches. Will I be allowed to carry it into the museum? For that matter, will I be allowed to bring it into, say, Musée d'Orsay? The Orangerie? The Pompidou? Musée Picasso?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
