Has anyone used their Pass Navogo for more than 10 years?
We're heading back to Paris next spring and we purchased our current Pass Navigo in 2006. We've recharged it 6 times over the years but it'll be 2017 so 11 years since the purchase. I keep reading they are good for at least 10 years so I wonder if anyone here has actually used theirs' for more than 10 years without having to purchase a new one.

My guess is that your card will still work fine but I don´t know of anyone who has used a single card for that long. If I recall correctly, the card manufacture guaranteed that the cards would last at least 10 years, not necessarily that they would vaporize on their 10th anniversary.
Give it a try and tell us what happens.

I think Sarastro is right, this was just an estimate about life span of duration. for replacement rules see http://www.stif.org/IMG/pdf/CGU_Pass...Decouverte.pdf
I didn't think they were used until Fall 2007 (at least the Decouverte version), so in that case, it would be impossible for anyone to have used one over 10 years at this point. SO if you bought one in 2006, you must have been a local resident.
But it either works or doesn't, and if not, you'd have to buy a new one, it isn't that expensive. It sounds like you don't live in Paris any more, so you'd need the Decouverte version. I've used mine 8 years, anyway, as I got it summer of 2008 and just reloaded it recently. If you are worried, just bring an extra ID photo with you in your wallet or something in case you need a new one as a Decouverte. I think if it stops working for any reason, you have to buy a new one, although it is up to the discretion of the clerk whether they give you a refund because they determine it's not working wasn't your fault. I don't know how they'd do that, it can fail if it is damaged, gets wet, etc. The above regulations explain how you'd get a replacement if it stops working.
HEre was the original announcement about the Decouverte and it does mention 10 years but sounds like a warranty, not that they are going to invalidate it after that. It clearly wasn't available to nonresidents until end of 2007.

I have noticed an "expiration" date printed on my receipt when I re-charge mine. The date is just short of 10 years. But I have many years to go before I can test this.
If you have any receipts from the last time that your charged your see if there is a date listed.

I have been using the same Navigo pass for as long as they have been available, and it still works perfectly (although the plastic case has broken apart). So I assume the Decouverte version will also work indefinitely. But I can't swear that the card has been around 10 years.
