Good evening, Rene
Stayed at the FLORA, befoe it becaume
a Marriott properety and at tht time
was totally satisified with the hotel
and its location at the foot of the
Via Veneto. These are more than enough
shops and ristorantes around, h9wever
it is about a ten mins walk to the
Spanish Steps, (atop at the Trinita di
Monti) Other locations such as the Pza
Navona, Rotunda and Trevi, perhaps the
best would be take a taxi to the furtherest and then his the other two
walking back to your hotel and the
Corso area. Haven't stayed, but some info:

The Flora was completely renovated before reopening as a Marriott, so if it was quite satisfactory before, it should be more so now.

It is a four-star as opposed to the other hotels on the via Veneto which are nearly all five-star. Not a big deal, but it does reduce the price. And the Marriott is doubtless working at attracting clientele.

From all reports it's a good buy, and we very much enjoy staying on the via Veneto.

Rome.Switzerland.Bavaria
www.twenj.com
Hello Rene,
I stayed at the Marriott Grand Flora in March of this year and I loved it! You will not be at all disappointed. The rooms are soooo lovely. My friend and I were really impressed and pleased especially after a long train ride from Milan.

We stayed there last Fall for two nights before starting a cruise of the western Mediterranean. We liked it a lot: it felt expensive but it was included in our package so we did not find the real price. The breakfast (included for us)was quite nice but we had a lunch there which I thought was a rip off. We found two nice restaurants for dinner within walking distance. If you would like to know them send me an e-mail, ASAP as we are off for another holiday in two days.
Bon viaggio!

Hello, We stayed four nights last April, it is a lovely hotel, I cannot imagine why it is not rated 5 stars, because it is a 5 star hotel, turn down service and lovely rooms included.
Great breakfast, although if it is too much food for you everyday when you do not feel up to it, have a brioche and a capuccino exactly in front of the hotel joining dozens of locals... both the capuccino and the brioche are delicious & cost a couple of dollars and you feel you really are in Rome...
We got a room facing the Villa Borguese which was lovely, lovely view.
I can think of better locations than Via Veneto but it is ok I guess.
Taxis are tricky in Rome, be alert because if you give them the Hotel name or the ones parked near the hotel they will get away with driving you around a bit, at least they did this to us although we know Rome pretty well. So be alert, the whole thing amounted to a fee more dollars on each ride , nothing much anyway.
Do not eat in the hotel there are so many good restaurants in the area.
Good luck.

My husband and I stayed there years ago and loved it! There were no TVs in the rooms at the time, just one in the lobby - my favorite memory is walking into the lobby one night to see "Gone with the Wind", dubbed in Italian, being shown on the TV. Seeing (and hearing) Mammy speaking Italian at Tara is an image I'll never forget!
