Has anyone stayed at a B&B in Paris listed by Alcove & Agapes?
While doing my research for a September trip to France I found several attractive B&B's listed by Alcove & Agapes.
The only reference in Fodor's talk had the OP charged with advertising, being a troll (or someone commenting was a troll) and I'm not sure what else when they were simply very pleased with the company.
My husband and I like B&B's, chambres d'hotes, guest houses and gites so I was interested that there are some in Paris.
Has anyone stayed in any of the homes listed in Alcove & Agapes? Deborah

I realize that this is an old thread...but I have the same question. I'm looking at one of their B&B's. It's appealing because I'll be traveling solo and can brush up on my French conversation. Has anyone used Alcove & Agape? Can you recommend any other B&B's if not? Thanks, EJ

Are B&Bs in Paris often just a room in someone's apartment? I think that was the case of one I read about a long time ago. This would not appeal to me at all personally. But I'd be interested to know what a B&B in Paris would be--not many "houses".

I think there are only a couple very very expensive places in Paris calling themselves "B&B" or of that ilk that are not just a spare room in someone's house. There is a real luxury one in the Marais, for example. It gets around hotel regulations that way, as I recall, it didn't even have a window in one room, it was kind of a closet.
The rest are just people renting rooms in their homes. There aren't really any B&Bs in Paris like some cities where it is really more an inn or small hotel. Those are often real expensive, also, in lots of places.

Yes, for the most part, they appear to be rooms within apartments. Many of the apartments are quite spacious, however and the rates (relatively) reasonable. I'm arriving a few days before my DH and hoping to practice some French, do some exploring, and have some company. Some of Alcove & Agapes offerings have personable hosts with whom to chat or have a meal. I was hoping that it might get a Fodor's endorsement, but guess not. I'll report back if I decide to stay there. EJ
