Has anyone seen the Brueghelland exhibit? & how do I get to Lier?

Hi all. This winter, I will be on my own for 3.5 days in Belgium. I will be staying in Antwerp and want to take day trips to Brugge and Brussells.

I discovered a Brueghel exhibit in Lier, Belgium (which is about 30 mins. from Antwerp). Can anyone tell me if there are trains from Antwerp to Lier? I haven't really researched the trains I will take yet - but understand it is easy to get from Antwerp to Brussels and Brugge.

If anyone has seen the exhbit, I'd love to know what you thought of it. One of the things I will be doing is visiting numerous paintings by Bosch adn Brueghel, two of my favorite painters. Bosch's "Last Judgment" in Brugge will not be on display while I am there, darn! But...it also answers the question of what I will do on Monday, since all the art museums I want to see are closed on Monday. I will visit Brugge on that day.

Hi karens,

There are approx. 5 trains per hour between Antwerp and Lier.
The trip takes not more than 20 minutes.
The exhibition in Lier is in cooperation with the KMSK museum in Antwerp which is closed for the moment.
On the Dutch language website there is a link to a visitorsguide, which I did not find on the English site.
Even without understanding Dutch, you can see a few the 13 "Pieter Breughel II" paintings they show.

I haven't seen the exhibition yet. Thanks for the tip

Thank you, Emro2, glad to hear there's such frequent train service (and that the ride is so short).

Thanks so much for posting the link - I was looking for more info on the exhibit, but was limited by not being able to read Dutch.

If you go, let me know how you like it.

I don't know about the exhibit but wanted to urge you to see the
Mayer Van den Berg museum in Antwerp with the fascinating Bosch-inspired painting by Bruegel the Elder, Dulle Griet(Mad Meg)

Vttraveler - I am very much looking forward to seeing Mad Meg. I am also excited to see the Fall of the Fall of the Rebel Angels at the art museum in Brussells.
