Has anyone rented an apartment on Rue Des Ecouffes???
This is a one bedroom at 10 Rue Des Ecouffes.
I need some feedback about the neighborhood and apartment.

The sticker on their map is in quite the wrong place - Rue des Ecouffes is several hundred yards to the right, and is just about the chi-chi-est neighbourhood you could want for (it couldn't be where the sticker is, that's a hospital, I think).
Four people in 48 sq.m? They'd have to be very good friends and one couple would have to sleep on the sofabed in the living room. I'm wondering why all their photos show the curtains closed: but the implication is that you reach it up the winding staircase from the courtyard, so presumably it's at the back, away from the street, which is always a plus. It might be worth double-checking whether it overlooks the street or the courtyard.

I was thinking the same thing about the curtains. The apt I rented has had a major plumbing disaster and I am now in a time crunch to find another. I really prefer high floors for the extra light and possible views but I need an elevator. There are two us traveling and I want to be in the Marais. HELP!!!!!

You wouldn't get much in the way of views from upper floors in the Marais, apart from the stereotypical Parisian roofs and chimneypots. Maybe the rooms look out on to some particularly dull airwell, or something of that kind. I have no idea about how the rent compares with anything else, not actually having rented an apartment in Paris. If it were offered to me as a home exchange, I'd have no hesitation about taking it, based on the location.

I agree w/limited apt size. The average 1/2 persons apartment rental in Paris is around 32-35 square meters, so 48 is a bit tight for 4 people, more so when we are talking 2 couples....I would keep looking-- use Google maps and their search feautures to "walk" around the neighborhood you want and seek out rentals. I do it all the time; best way to look for lodging if you have a neighborhood in mind.

I don't believe the sticker on the map was intended to show the location of the apartment. It shows City Hall, which is the default placement if you select Paris from google maps, the center of the city.

apersuader-- you are either looking at the wrong map (map is close to bottom of page) or don't know how to use the Zoom +- satellite view on Google Maps. The marker IS where the ownner placed it ad it is nowhere near the City Hall.

I looked at the map and they do have their marker wrong. It flags the location of the apt (if you click on that flag with the house icon on it, it refers to the apt and says so) and is City Hall. I don't know why Vieajero2 thinks the marker is nowhere near city hall when it is right in front of it on place de l'Hotel de Ville. However, it is not the apt, that's true. The apt is to the east and on that street running north of rue de Rivoli that ends at L'As du Falafel.
I think it is okay if there are only two of you. You aren't going to get any views in most apts in Paris or most cities. It's on the first floor, anyway, there won't be any views no matter what, it's probably close to walls or neighbor's windows or something, that's normal for any apt building in the city, and definitley in the Marais.
I am confused as I thought you said it was for 2 people not 2 couples, but if it is for 2 couples, it's too small. Furthermore, the sofabed is only double bed size, not queen, so some couples might not want that (or a sofabed, for that matter).
