I have sent several emails to hotels in Italy lately, and I have only gotten about 2 back. One place I ended up faxing, and they told me they had replied 3 times to my emails. This was a reply, which should have gone through without a chance of an error in the address. Is it just hotmail, or is this a common problem?

I email my son in Japan daily and he answers me, no problems.Both using hotmail.

I've also experienced problems with my hotmail account. Messages to/from Prague and Kenya were not received.

The only time I have had a problem with people saying that they had repeatedly sent e-mail replies that I hadn't received was when I was trying to make B&B reservations in various parts of England last year, and none of us was usig Hotmail or MSN. So it sounds more like a feeble excuse for laziness or computerphobia, to me!

There have been rumours in Europe about the US using spy programs to scan e-mails in connection with security issues.

I called MSN last night about my not being able to get my e mail thru Hotmail. The rep said he had gotten a couple such calls and they may have an issue they weren't aware of. Said to give it 24 hrs. Still can't get on this morning.

I can get on, but it is certainly erratic. I'm on a cable modem, so it should be fast, but sometimes it's slow as Christmas and will just error out on me. But then everything does that sometimes, no matter the site. But I think it's curious that I've mailed probably 10 hotels and have not gotten 1 reply yet. I'll probably give MSN a call myself today. Squeaky wheels!

I think R. Pare` is trying to tell me that he/she got 3 error messages when trying to mail to a hotmail address...translation, anyone??

To afraid: you are correct. Translation of R. Pare's message: "I have tried three times since yesterday (Feb. 20)to send a message to China to a friend who has a hotmail.com address. And I received 3 'mail error' messages."

Thank you Betty, Now I am more convinced than ever that it is hotmail with the problem. My next phone call...
