It's not 'direct" if by that you mean non-stop. Wow connects through Reykjavik, both going and coming. After choosing your destination and dates, you will immediately see a long list of extras -- that is, extra charges, which reduce the appearance of a bargain. Flights from the eastern US will probably be on a narrow-body Airbus. Its Boston airport is Logan, into Charles de Gaulle Paris on the other side.
Wow is competing for no-frills trans-Atlantic business with Icelandair, Norwegian, and soon from Spain, an airline called Level associated with Vueling and Iberia. Wow claims nearly two dozen European destinations and 10 in the US and Canada.

With airlines, there is indeed a big difference between direct and non-stop. Direct only means a non changing flight number from point A to point D or possibly point E. When departing point A on a direct flight, there are stops at points B and C before reaching D. Only non-stops make no stops en route.
Another way to look at it is that all non-stops are direct but not all direct flights are non-stop.
I am all for saving money but there comes a point when everything is done to saving pennies that I just don´t mind traveling on an air carrier with a known track record and one that does more than just refund my money when a flight is cancelled for any reason.

I met someone in Paris recently who flew WOW to get there from D.C. She said she would never let that mistake happen again. The cost was something like $1500, so it wasn't much of a bargain. All other airlines were charging $2,300 and up for that week.
Apparently, the list of items to purchase stretches far beyond the ticket. Not a single food item is available without purchase, including water, and they accept credit card only. Some passengers were having issues getting their credit cards to work. People were loaning food items to others.
She said the plane was small and packed. It connected through Reykjavik. She said the airport is small but poorly designed. When she landed there was chaos. I hear she made it back to D.C. in one piece, but she said she would never use that airline again. Her plane ticket was purchased for her.

'Flights are cheap but everything is extra."
Bingo. We flew them in June From MIA to AMS via KEF for $150 one way.
No issues. We each carried on a very minimal bag. Loaded our smartphones with entertainment. Brought our own sandwiches and filled our water bottles planeside. The long haul was an A330, the short was an A320, both pretty new. Seats were fine, in fact my wife and daughter's up front were very comfy. Flights were on time.
We had a very good experience, but we didn't expect anything but a seat. It could have been bad, if there had been weather or a mechanical problem though. That's the risk.

"why would it be "bad, if there had been weather or a mechanical problem though. That's the risk." --?"
Because , unlike the majors, they aren't going to have a spare plane or crew lying around that could be pressed into service. There would likely be major disruption, lousy customer service, no alternate through a partner airline.
