Has anyone ever been to Jausiers, France?

I have another post (less experienced travelers going to Switzerland and France) which has gotten some response, but more about our flight into Zurich than about the area where we are staying in France. We have booked a timeshare in Jausiers, France. We are trying to plan some daytrips and are not opposed to driving a couple hours each way. I would love to hear from someone who has been to this area. We are interested in learning more about the National Park nearby and other activities. Thanks!

I have a good French friend who has a house in Barcelonette, so yes, I've been to Jausiers. Well, I've been THROUGH it a bunch of times. Not much there. Not memorable from a tourist standpoint at all, but as a base for a few days probably delightful. There's very little commerce there if memory serves me well, so you'd be best off going to Barcelonette for shopping and cafés and so forth.

I have gathered that there isn't much in Jausiers, but we do have a place to stay there - so, where do you suggest we go? Do you or your friend have some favorites nearby? I would love to have some ideas of where to go before we leave on Thursday - I never wait this late to plan anything!

The Parc Regional Queyras, to the north of Jausiers, is quite scenic.
St-Véran, in the heart of the area, is said to be the highest village in the Alps. The Col d'Izoard, leading to Briançon is outstanding...

Assuming you have a car, just get out a map and explore. Pick up information from the tourist office in Barcelonette. I can't be of much help, as we just went skiing most days, visited with friends, and went to market and bought lots of good things to take home and cook. I'm sure we would have done a lot more exploring by car in the summer, but it was February and not so conducive to tolling around in a rental car. The scenery's magnificent, though. Go with the flow!
