Has anyone ever been to Floriade - Horticulture Event in Netherlands?

Jump to last reply

I am lucky enough to be making a trip to Amsterdam the first week of April 2012. Its so exciting to be in the right place at the right time - finally! -- to see the tulip fields in bloom. We will do all the standard tulip tours, such as Keukenhof Gardens. However, I've just found a web site for Floriade 2012. It sounds a lot like the Chelsea Flower Show - only super-sized! According to the web site, this event is only held every 10 years. It opens 5 April, so I would be in the Netherlands at the appropriate time. Is it a must see? Is it something that could be done in a single day? It looks massive, but their web site isn't terribly organized. I think we can get to Venlo from our base in Amsterdam by train, but have no idea how long that would take.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
