Has Anyone Eaten at L'Opéra Restaurant in the Palais Garnier?

The chef has two stars, came from the Crillon, so it sounds promising. The prices are lower than I would have expected for something like that. It looks attractive, but I'd love to have a first-person commentary.

Thanks.
Jane

We walked past that restaurant when we were there. It looked nice enough, and of course the setting is so perfect.
Would love to read a first hand account.

I'll put it on my list of small goals, and when I make it, I promise to get back to you. ;-)

Googling, it looks like it just opened in June 2011.

It did just recently open. There was a spot on the France 2 morning news about the design - it needed to fit into the space so that it could one day be removed, with no damage to the historic building. Interesting discussion with the architect, but no mention of how good the food was. He does come with recommendations and stars though.

I'm intrigued, too, StCirq. A client had asked me to book a table for him, but I was hoping to find out more before doing so.

OTOH, with two stars and a history at the Crillon, how bad can the chef be?

For anyone who wants to satisfy their curiosity, lunch is reasonable -- a 2-course formule at 36€.

I'm going to pass this along to GraceJoan. She's in Paris for a few months and always reports about her meals.

Here's her reply, FYI:

TDudette,

I had asked about it on Chowhound earlier and with the bit of information that I received, I decided to pass on it. Not my decor! Here is an article, too:

Let others do more testing it. I have a pretty heavy list to try and hardly putting a dent in all that I might like to try. I am really trying out quite a few in the upper 15th..a nicely growing/changing area in many ways!

a bientot....

Joan
