Has anyone been really happy with a lakeside hotel in Stresa?
We are trying to zero in on a lake side hotel in Stresa for the beginning of June.(Lakeside only because as we are getting older we are not so happy going up and down hills and steps!)
Trip Adviser has such a mixed bag of reviews on all of them, regardless of price, it's making it difficult to select one.
It seems that as in many older European hotels, happiness depends in large part on the room you wind up with......which seems, in Stresa, to not always be the room you thought you were going to wind up with!
If you have been really happy somewhere, I'd love to know about it.
Thanks
LynF

On Baveno's lakeshore, Grand Hotel Dino offers spectacular views out over Lake Maggiore.www.booking.com/hotel/it/grand-dino.en.html
Booking.com will have honest recent reviews way better than all the fakes on Tripadvertizer.GREAT personal experience at the DINO right at the ferry dock negotiated a lake view over Isola Bella with the dowager manager there 110 euro no breakfast awesome NEW rooms view.Walk to the ferry dock.Have stayed at the La Palma mediocre lodging even worse food Regina my fav for Price in Stresa.Italie et Suisse truly sucks also fake packaged croissants for breakfast ug!
Happy Hunting!

We stayed at hotel Primavera in Stressa, 30 seconds from the lake and 10 minutes by foot from train station. The bus to Malpensa has a stop near hotel. We had a large room and the breakfast was OK.

Hi LF,
You might wish to consider Lake Orta, not far from Stresa.
See might trip report for details:

I stayed at the Hotel Dino some years back. While there was much to like about it, the rooms could vary a lot (I was with a conference - my husband and I got what was like a duplex; others got a semi-closet.)
My only other concern for someone "on in years" is that Baveno does not have as much lakefront as Stresa, i.e. not as extensive of a promenade.

We loved the second room we got at the Hotel Italie et Suisse in Stresa. The first room was a disappointment, but they willingly changed us over to a huge, sunny room when we mentioned the first one was quite confining.
I do agree with ira, though. If I were to go back, I'd stay on Orta.

We stay at La Luna couple years ago and are going back week of 4/22. View is wonderful, very comfortable, staff very pleasant. Good location. Get a full lake view if you decide to stay there
