Hallstatt mudslide

Jump to last reply

I signed up for the State Dept announcements when planning my upcoming trip to Austria. Just received this:

June 20, 2013

U.S. Embassy Vienna informs US citizens residing and visiting Austria that on Wednesday a massive mud slide unleashed by a thunderstorm caused severe damage in the tourist town of Hallstatt in Austria (province of Upper Austria). The village square was flooded and houses and one hotel were partially under water. The Austrian government has declared this tourist area to be a disaster area, and rescue operations are now underway. For flood updates and street closings, please use the following link: http://oe3verkehr.orf.at/ <http://oe3verkehr.orf.at/> .

No mention of injuries. Hope all are OK.
