If you have an extended stay at a hotel with half pension (breakfast and dinner) arrangements, should you tip the restaurant staff? if so, how much?
What's the proper way to do it? add it to your room bill? something every night at dinner? one big tip in an envelope given on the departure day?
Do the rules change depending on what country you're in?
Thanks in advance for your insight.

In some countries service is included. Tipping is Europe is not like tipping in the states.
I never tip when staying half pension in a hotel in Europe.
Whenever I've stayed half board (or full board)in Europe, there is usually a jar or bowl in the restaurant, or sometimes at reception, where you can leave a tip for all of the staff to share. People usually place there tip there at the end of their stay. Because the cost is included in the tariff for the room I don't think that service is usually included and even if it is I doubt that the staff ever get to see it.
Thanks for your replies. During our last half pension visit in Italy we saw numerous people (of many nationalities) giving cash to the wait staff at breakfast on their departure day. I was wondering if this was the norm.
