Gulet cruises in Turkey - what are they like?
I'm considering booking a trip to Turkey, one week hotel and the second on a Gulet cruise through a company called 'Travel One' - has anyone else used them and what was the cruise like and secondly will it just be unbearably hot on the southern coast at the beginning of August?

Got back from Northern Cyprus a few days ago and it was very hot and very humid; as it's not a million miles from the southern coast of Turkey I should think the weather is reasonably comparable. Can't be sure about it's accuracy but the car thermometer didn't drop below 30C whilst we were there and touched 40C once or twice. Even early morning and late evenings were hot and sticky and it was most bearable right by the sea where there was usually a bit of a breeze.
One evening we went out on a gulet cruise which was a comfortable temperature and the humidity was hugely reduced.
No comments on Travel One but we spent a week on a gulet 19 years ago leaving from Bodrum so I can give you a bit of general information. All the boats seemed to only average two hours sailing in the morning and the same in the afternoon. They put the sails up once which was mainly for a photo opportunity. The day trip we took the following week definitely didn't sail all day but was moored for a considerable part of it, whilst we ate, swam, lazed about reading or water-skied (extra cost). The day trip gulets we watched in N Cyprus all followed similar routes which meant that they would have sailed for a maximum of three hours on a six hour day trip. Possibly less. So don't expect all day sailing unless it is specified.
We had one of two cabins at the back of the boat (slept twelve) which were bigger than the four towards the front of the boat. They were all tiny but we had an extra berth in ours and the extra space was great to have. But the diesel exhausted out of the back so it could get unpleasant in there if you were in there whilst sailing.
The blurb made much of lots of fresh fish but we had virtually none. My husband bought prawns for everyone one night and another day the crew got a bag of small but freshly caught fish from a fishing boat.
And obviously you are living in quite close proximity with a group of strangers but everyone was in the same position and we all got along fine.
We loved it and have always talked about doing it again with a group of friends. One day...

One comment to CarriAnn first, temperature differs between South coats and Cyprus. so they're not comparable I believe.
About the gulet, I think it's a great experience. Everyone should experience it at least once in a lifetime. I do not know much about the company though. small advices;
-be sure you're on a big boat. You will spend 7 days and nights there. A big boat is one with minimum 7-8 cabins.
-sleep on the deck at nights.
-be sure that your boat visits some antic cities on the way, they're great also.

We just came back from Turkey less than two weeks ago and did do a three day mini gulet cruise from Kas to Olympos. We booked our cruise thru V-Go so can't comment on Travel One but can share some of our experiences.
It was a good gulet. Though a stand boat, it is nicer and more spacious that we expected. Weather in July was supposed to be hot but maybe we were lucky, we didn't have any problems to sleep inside the cabin (which is really smal) at all without A/C. We did sleep on night on the deck though, just for the fun of it.
There was not too much to do other than swimming, napping and reading. Food was good. We enjoyed it for three days but one week would have been too long for us as most of us were not swimmers.

Thanks for the correction re the weather, kerema. Wish I'd been in Turkey not Cyprus if there isn't the humidity!
Just remembered that our gulet had a canoe and a windsurf.
And you'll really need to travel with a soft bag not a hard sided case.
