Group Dinner in Barcelona

I have a group of 29 adults travelling through Portugal and Spain. Our last night, Oct 9th, will be in Barcelona and I would appreciate suggestions for a Catalan or tapas restaurant that could accommodate us for dinner. We are staying at the Hotel Continental on the Ramblas and would like to find something within walking distance. However, we would be willing to taxi for atmosphere. I would like to keep it within the 40 - 50 euro per person price range, including wine, if you think that is possible, and assume there would be a group menu available. We definitely are a more casual, taverna type group, and prefer rustic to modern. Live music would be a plus. Thank you in advance for your suggestions and replies, reid777

You can try Restaurant Windsor (www.restaurantwindsor.com). Their Còrsega Room can accommodate up to 38 people. You can download the group menu.

Hey reid777, you can try Yves Home Restaurant. He's a gourmet chef that specializes in catalan food and tapas. He has plenty of experience as he has conducted a lot of private cooking events, class and workshops. He also caters to large groups of people. You can try to google for more information.
Hope this helps

My clear recommendation would be Can Culleretes, the oldest restaurant in town (from 1786, the second oldest in all of Spain) and just off Las Ramblas. They are very well used to having large groups (the restaurant is huge and over two floors), both locals and tourists, for big celebrations, events etc. Traditional catalan food in the best atmosphere, and it should be well within your budget. Have had great both lunches and dinners here.

The 29€ menu at Can Culleretes seems like a very good deal:

First course: Iberic ham, shrimps al ajillo, cod croquettes, squid rings and tuna fish salad for all to share.

Second course: Choose between Grilled or Fried fish and seafood plate, Grilled jumbo shrimps, Cod fish with sauce, Grilled sirloin steak, Catalan pork sausage with white beans, Wild board game stew, Veal stew with fresh mushrooms

Dessert: Choose between chocolate cake, lemon cake and whisky cake.

Bread, coffee, house wine (1 bottle for every four person) and mineral water is included.

I've had both the gambas/shrimps al ajillo and the Catalan pork sausage (Butifarra) with white beans (a Barcelona classic) here, just delicious.
