Grocery Stores in Rome

I have rented an apartment near Piazza Navona w/out researching if there are any shops close by. Not thinking of cooking major meals, but like the idea of being able to relax with a glass of wine etc.
I'm not leaving until September so no hurries, but if someone has some info, great.
Thanks in advance.

There is a grocery store on Via Giustiniani, and a small, unpretentuious wine shop called Il Vinaio on Via dei Portoghesi (closed Thursday afternoons).

There's a small supermarket near the Pantheon.

We ran into a woman from the UK there who had rented an apartment that was devoid of all necessities--not even one square of toilet paper!

There is one just east of Piazza Navona on Via Monterone. Note that you need to look carefully! It's not really noticeable, and the street turns, but it's there.

East of P.Mavona, several food stores on Via dell Scrota and one really good bakery, try to be there around 5 PM, when all goodies just out of oven.

One small food market on P.del Coppele-couple blocks north of Pantheon, the market opens from early morning to noon, One restaurant on the Piazza offers very good buffet lunch for 10 Euro.

The very immediate vicinity of Pzza Navona is not well supplied -- too pricey a zone for many shops. But as you have gathered from the preceding, there are lots of little shops in the general area -- you will not lack for wine and toilet paper.

Many are what I believe are called "Mom and Pop operations" in US -- what we call "depanneurs" here in Canada. Small shop, small selection, higher prices.

The largest food store -- just a hole in the wall but it opens out enormously -- is on the other side of Corso V Emmanuele, in the via Monte della Farina (near Cancelleria palace).

There are some largeish chain food stores, very nice and modern, in the Corso itself -- Di per Di is the name of one, I believe.

But my favourite is in the Piazza Nicosia, north of Navona -- arched/ vaulted chambers on the ground floor of a 17th C palazzo. Great selection, too. We bought a lot there.

Or visit the daily market in Campo de' Fiori -- lots of tourist dreck but they do have fresh vegetables etc

There is a fairly large, two-level supermarket supermarket south of the Pantheon on Corso VE, just east of Largo Argentina.

Any names for these places, so that they can be searched on Google Maps?

I tried searching for Conad, Coop and Despar.

What is odd is in Google, some of these return hits but in some cases like Despar, they're not suppose to have any stores in Rome according to their own site.

Yes I remember the big market near the Spagna metro. Thought that was a Despar or Coop too.
