I am looking for information on hiking from village to village via the Greenways. Do you leave right from Prague or take a train to a certain point? About how far apart are the villages? Do people in the villages speaker English? If not, what other languages are common in the countryside? Are rooms or b&b's fairly plentiful? What is the best time of year weather-wise? Any info is appreciated.

hi, There is a great tour operator who can help organise your trip: Greenways Travel Club. you should be able to find all the information you need at www.ecn.cz/greenways, or www.gtc.cz
Hope that helps.
I think the previous post is the right way to go. In my experience, the greenways are mainly cycling routes (our village in on cycle routes 11 and 26 which makes part of the greenways) although I suppose Hiking is not out of the question. B&B's are not widespread in that places to stay are not widely advertised. You might find a small 2* hotel in the area but, not on the route itself. Alternatives are regular houses that let rooms but, these are normally for longer stay than a night or two. Weather wise I think I would pick September as there is still warmth in the air and reasonably light evenings. You must have a basic vocabulary in Czech if you want to "go it alone" outside of Prague. A good resource for this is www.bohemica.com
