Greek Islands Variety Cruise Line Harmony V

Would love feedback on Greek Islands Variety Cruise Line's Harmony V. Perillo Tours is offering 3 nights Athens/7 nights cruising that looks very intriguing. This is a last minute decision and we are looking for late September/early October.

About us: We are in our early 60's and active. We have never been to Greece. Our only cruise experience was a Wind Star cruise in the Caribbean, which we enjoyed, and we are not interested in large cruise ships.

If you have other recommendations to this Perillo Tour/Cruise, we'd love to hear them.

Thanks!

If you haven't been to Greece before you might consider visiting islands on your own with ferries between instead of a cruise. Emphasis on land rather than sea. It sounds like a nice trip but the Greek Islands are so simple to visit that I think it might be a bit of a waste to not spend the bulk of your time relaxing on an island or 3 rather than a ship. And the food will be better.

If you like small ship cruising, then by all means go. I don't know about Perillo Tours, but Variety Cruises is a well known company in the Aegean. There are four reviews on this Cruise Critic web page, three of them favourable: http://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/review...cfm?ShipID=552. The only disadvantage I can think of is that strong winds sometimes keep small ships in port, preventing them from completing the scheduled itinerary (read the fourth review). If you book a small ship cruise you have to accept that possibility.

Actually I agree with MmePerdu. Greece has an excellent ferry system, designed to keep the islands populated throughout the year. There are also airports on many islands, any of which can be reached by air within an hour. Do a little research and it's easy to put together a package of your own. Late Sep - early Oct is a time when you don't even have to book island hotels in advance, there are so many vacancies. Same goes for the ferries — none are full that time of year, and they sail in all but the worst weather.

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately, the cruise was already booked for this year...so maybe next year.
