Greek Islands, Barcelona or Positano and Lake Como for anniversary trip?
Hi everyone,
My questions might sound a bit all over the place but here they go:
Looking to plan a 10-12 day trip to Europe for my 10 year wedding anniversary next May or June. We are a 60 year old couple.
I cannot decide where I want to go.
We are going to Prague, Vienna and Budapest this September.
We have been to Paris, Normandy, Loire Valley, London and Venice.
I have been to Tuscany, Umbria, Rome and Florence. Husband has never been.
Husband has been to Athens, Mykonos and Santorini 2x with his 1st wife. I have never been.
What do you think of Barcelona? We would rent an apartment there for a week. Maybe do some day trips? Interested in the Gaudi architecture. We are not really museum people. We love great food and wine.
In Italy Positano looks lovely. What do you think? Where else would you add on? Maybe Sicily? Would it be possible to get to Lake Como from there? husband would like to see Rome for a couple of days.
I would love to go to Athens, Santorini! Mykonos and maybe Paros or Naxos. Husband has been but willing to go again.
Has anyone been to all of the above destinations? Which would you recommend?
Any other ideas? Comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Depends on your interests and temperament, of course; we loved Barcelona the 3 days we spent there in March, but for an anniversary trip for me/us it would be Lake Como and/or Amalfi Coast, flying into Milan and out of Rome, since he wants to stop there.
That said, we're planning a 40th next year (we are also 60-62) and will spend half on Amalfi Coast and half in the Greek Islands (never been to Greece, been to Lake Como a couple of times), but we'll have two weeks plus.
We also prefer trains, and public trans is trickier exploring the AC, though busses and ferries fill the gaps.
Another thought would be combining AC/Rome with Greece, but harder with the time you have. AC plus Rome would already make for a full 10-12 days with travel to/from, especially if you take a couple of days on Capri, go to Pompeii, etc. More time in Rome gives you time to head over to neighborhoods like Trastevere.
Whatever you decide have a great trip!

I've been to all the destinations listed above. It's a toss-up for me between Rome/Amalfi Coast, or Athens/Greek Islands. But since you're foodies, I might give a slight edge to Italy.
End of May/ early June is an ideal time for a visit to either country. With only ten days on the ground, I don't recommend combining the two, so pick one country and take your time to savor the anniversary!

WWK, thank you for your thoughts. Where would you suggest going on the Amalfi coast and which islands did you go to in Greece? I could probably stretch the trip out to 14 days.
Which did you prefer, if you had to choose, the Amalfi coast or the Greek Islands?
Thanks so much!
