Posted this because it happened to me in Belize just strolling a beach and I picked up a 3 day ripper

My experience is many years out of date, but that used to be possible. Skippers often took on casual crew for longer hops in the Med.

I once sat on the Spanish Steps with a handmade sign asking for a crew from the harbor in Fiumicino, on my ketch, to the south of France. A nice young Australian chap and his Dutch girlfriend signed on for the trip, and even chipped in on the food. They had been hosteling back toward his home, but gladly took the detour back to France.

I was hoping they would stay with me to help me up the rivers and canals to Amsterdam, as I was sailing single handed, but they found another short handed yacht in Cannes that was headed their way toward Turkey and jumped ship. Luckily I picked up more crew in Marseilles, who helped me put the masts down for the trip up the Rhone to Lyon, where I three young ladies helped me through the canals as far as Reims. There two couples came aboard to help me on the last legs to Holland.

Just wander along the docks where the cruisers tie up, ask, and you might get lucky. What's to lose?

Actual see there is Captain Yannis day sailing Naxos to Paros
Leaves around 9am and returns 7pm --the all inclusive cost for trip/meals €60 plus $8 for bus to catch boat

There are lots of day sailing trips such as Captain Yannis in the Cyclades, so you will have no problem finding them on Naxos, Paros, Mykonos, etc. Just ask in the ticket agencies on each island and they will fix you up. You will probably be sailing on an ex fishing boat with up to 30 other passengers.

As far as hitching a ride on a private yacht is concerned, you can try, but most of those yachts are chartered with crew included rather than owner-sailed.

There are lots of day sailing options on most islands that we have been to. The amount of time you get to do the actual sailing may vary, the day sailing we have been on were mostly sitting on the deck while the skipper did all the work. Not that that is a bad thing
