Greece itinerary comments or suggestions?

How’s this for our itinerary to Greece? Any suggestions on what to do while we are waiting for our flight out to Santorini? Also, our last day in Athens...is it feasible to see or do something that day since we won’t have to be at the airport until at least 5-6pm?

Day 1 Sun – Arrive in Athens at 2:30am, Depart for Santorini on Aegean at 5:30am, arriving at 6:15am
Day 2 Mon – Santorini
Day 3 Tues – Santorini
Day 4 Wed – Santorini
Day 5 Thu – Midday Ferry to Naxos
Day 6 Fri – Naxos
Day 7 Sat – Naxos
Day 8 Sun – Depart for Athens on Olympic at 1:40pm, arriving at 2:20pm
Day 9 Mon – Athens
Day 10 Tue - Depart for home at 7pm

If you LOVE jewellery, you should visit the ilias lalaounis museum, which is near the Plaka.

Another great museum is the Benaki Collection.

Superficially Thin

Looks great. I like how you've allocated your time, spending most on the islands and very little in Athens. Where are you flying in from on day 1? Doesn't seem like you'd have a whole lot of spare time connecting to your flight to Santorini when you consider clearing customs, checking into your next flight, etc. I would think you'd easily be able to do something in Athens the first half of the day on your last day there. I'm thinking you'd want to head to the airport around 4ish, which would give you most the day in Athens. Where are you staying in Santorini? Everyone has their own opinions, but I would have been disappointed had we not stayed in Oia. So beautiful!

We are flying LAX direct to LHR, then to Athens. I know there are only 3 hours between arrival and our departure to Santorini, but I wouldn't think it should take three full hours to get through customs but I'm sure it will eat up much of our time so I guess we'll just have to enjoy the airport in the wee hours of the morning, lol.

Our flight out of Athens on our last day is at 7pm which is why I figure we'll have until 5-6pm. I guess I'll just need to do a little research to see where everything is so I can plan my time wisely.

After reading over so many posts, I definitely plan to stay in Oia. I wanted to get my flights all booked first but booking the hotels are next! It seems there are so many good choices so I'm sure I will be indecisive once again...

I can't imagine leaving Athens for the airport only an hour before your international flight. That seems a little crazy. Leaving at 5pm for a 7pm international flight seems pushing it to me, but each to their own.

You'll love Oia. I don't know what your budget is, but we absolutely loved the Esperas Traditional Houses. Amazing place with breathtaking views, nice pool/bar/restaurant and wonderful service. We were in heaven. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Well I didn't mean we would leave for the airport at 5 or 6, more that we would have to be there by then...6pm being the latest which I know is pushing it. I just wasn't fretting the details at this point. My point was to say I have a full day.

I have started looking at hotels after saving so many links and I am totally overwhelmed!

The hotel hunt for my Greece trip was indeed overwhelming. So many choices! Good luck and enjoy Greece!
