Grape picking

Is it too late to look for grape picking this year.???. If not, if you see this please send some links.. My husband and I keen to jump on a plane, go to Italy (or elsewhere) and soak up some sun, culture and language whilst not spending money, possibly earning it, and being healthy, outdoors and relaxed. Other fruit/harvest acceptable.. The company of like-minded people essential. We are available for up to three months max but were thinking of about 3 weeks to a month.

I already speak fluent Italian, and basic but very rusty Spanish, French or German .. and Polish. I am a very good musician and so could contribute to the general ambient by playing ukelele or trumpet.. have buddhist leanings..

Liz and Craig..

Unless you have an EU passport you can't work and earn money.
For fruit picking and grape picking there are vast hoards of hard working cheap Eastern Europeans willing and able to do the work. It involves long hours and requires fast, hard and often heavy work. It is not a relaxing way to spend your time.

Work visa issues aside, have you actually given this serious thought?

Why do you want to take jobs away from locals or EU citizens who need the money more than you do?

There are also illegal immigrants doing those jobs who are often exploited.

Another grape picking, grape stamping thread. We've seen this before. People watch too many I Love Lucy reruns.

Just drink the grape rather than picking it.

I've been thinking about this post. You have enough money to buy two plane tickets and pay for lodging, food, and transportation for up to three months and you're looking to take work away from people who need that work to feed their families. There's something drastically wrong here.

You and me both.

From the OP, I thought that they were depending on the farmers housing and feeding them, hence the not spend any money comment

I have three possible explanations:

1. Troll post.

2. Self-centered trust fund hipster travelers (it would explain the multitude of languages, the ukelele, and the "like-minded people" comment).

3. Their travel budget only covers airfare. In fairness, I did that once too but as soon as I realized that transportation ate up 90% of my budget, I reconsidered my ill-conceived plan.

OP, this is for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8EFGHhFtEs

You want to travel to europe and for practically no money spend all of your time doing hard back-breaking work from dawn to dusk every day. Living under very basic conditions?

And not sure what products you think you would be picking in Nov and Dec.

Agree - too much I Love Lucy. (That isn't real life you know.
