Grand Circle - M/S Chardonnay ship - Anyone ever taken this boat?
Has anyone ever traveled on the M/S Chardonnay, which is a 50 passenger rivership normally operating in the south of France? I would appreciate any comments about the boat and your experience. We are traveling with Grand Circle Travel, but I believe the ship hosts other groups, too!
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Hello.....here is the author. My report was written in parts so here is the link to the second part.

If you have any problems or need more info I will answer your posts. My ship was the Provence which I believe was the sister ship to the Charddonnay.

Thanks, Al. Would you care to comment on the facilities/amenities etc. of the smaller GCT ships (Chardonnay & Provence) versus their larger ships, if you have been on one of the larger ships?
I remain worried about my wife, who has a tendency to be a bit sea-sick prone...however, on the larger (140 person) GCT boats there was NO ISSUE with that whatsoever.
Thanks again, Al!

I think any issue between larger and smaller boats (and the Chardonnay is not THAT much smaller)is totally dependent on size but more so on the nature of the waterways they travel. The Rhone and Soane are "mild" and much of the trip is thru locks...I hardly think seasick was ever an issue for anyone on our trip.
The rooms were surprisingly large...food was very good although not wide choices...but they are able to accomodate any special needs and their breakfast is very complete. The staff was helpful and gracious.
Any thing else I can tell you about. I assume you got tomy posting.
