Dear fellow travelers,
Kindly suggest a mid-range (50-80 euros for twin sharing per night ?) hotel in Granada which is as close as possible to Alhambra as that is the major site for which we are going to Granada. We are a group of 5, need 2 rooms (1st for couple and 2nd for 3 girls) for 2-3 nights.
Decent (clean, ensuite bathroom, secure for girls) hotels at walking distance to Alhambra? If not, then little bit distance here and there won't make a difference as we anyway may have to take some local transportation.

the price will depend on when you are going, that you do not give details about.
So maybe you can fill in the blanks on the following website to find what you are looking for.

There are reviews on each location, search by map if you want to.
hi rtwin,
when we went to Granada a few years ago, we stayed here:
http://www.hotelguadalupe.es/
although it's not obvious from the map, it's right opposite the Alhambra -about 100 metres from the ticket office and entrance. we had a nice big room with a full bathroom, and paid €60 per night including breakfast which was very nice,as was the dinner we had there after we did the night visit to the alhambra -a must, IMO.
there's no parking, but you get a discount on parking in the alhambra car park opposite.
you can walk down into the town in about 10 minutes and get the bus back up from the centre - it drops you right outside the ticket office.
do book your alhambra tickets in advance, and do book for the night tour as well - it's well worth it.
Ribeirasacra, travel is in 4th week August. I fear that might be the peak season? And thanks for the hotel booking website, I did look around at several such websites, but would love to get personal advice from people who have stayed at a hotel close to Alhambra and found it to be good.
Annhig, thank you so much - I would check this one out. Location seems perfect!
"but would love to get personal advice from people who have stayed at a hotel close to Alhambra and found it to be good."
And that is what you get on booking.com. Personal opinions. Plus maps showing you where each hotel is located.
you can get them on TripAdvisor as well
have you looked at the Hotel America?
No hotels other than the ones that are up at the Alhambra are within "easy walking distance" IMO unless you like walking up long somewhat steep hills.
IMO unless you like walking up long somewhat steep hills.>>
but there is the very frequent bus service that I refer to above, if neither the America nor the Guadalupe appeal.
BTW, I checked on booking.com for a random date in August for the Guadalupe and they are quoting less than £50 per night for a twin room, and it gets high ratings in the reviews.
We stayed in the NH Victoria in town. The bus stop was just a few mins away and the bus took us to the Alhambra and back for a euro or so. I think its nicer in the town, much more livelier in the evening.
The reason I mentioned booking.com is because that is the link suggested by ribeirasacra (Jun 21, 12 at 3:40pm).
Unlike many other booking websites such as TripAdvisor, with booking.com you have to have actually stayed at the hotel in question before being invited to submit a review. Your review is then moderated before it appears online.
