Go to the Alhambra as soon as it opens. Save the first couple rooms for your trip back. You'll have the rest of the Alhambra pretty much to yourselves for about 30 minutes if you stay ahead of the rest of the visitors. If this is all you do, it will be worth it.
However, you'll have time to walk back down to town. Visit the cathedral and the royal chapel. Then walk thru the Albaicin and enjoy the views and the sunset from Mirador de San Nicholas. Just make sure you know how to get out after sunset because it's easy enough to get lost in the Albaicin during the daytime.

Hi
Definitely visit the Alhambra. If it's not too late I suggest pre buying your ticket - http://tinyurl.com/67gfcht. And yes another vote for the beautiful Albaicin area.
