Gracia Neighborhood in Barcelona Spain

Is the Gracia a good neighborhood to stay in while visiting Barcelona?

It is a great place. Youll need to walk about 15 minutes to reach the city center, but it is a young neighborhood with a lot of bars and party

Depends what your goal is, that's all. Many tourists, especially first time (which I am guessing you are if you don't know anything about Gracia), want to be in an area they perceive as within walking distance of at least some attractions to them and more in the center of things. Others just want to get something cheaper (and hotels if any would be cheaper there) and don't like being in a more popular tourist area and want a different neighborhood. It would be great if you want that.

It will take longer than 15 minutes to reach the center by walking, though. For example, it is 2 km from Placa de la Vila de Gracia (a a lot of Gracis is farther than that) from placa Catalunya. Maybe power walking. I'd want to be near a metro/bus line.

Gràcia is a large area. Location is okay if it's close to Eixample. We stayed at Royal Passeig de Gràcia, which is at the far end of Eixample. We walked to Plaça de Catalunya in 10 min., to Sagrada Familia in 15 min., to the Barri Gotic, Born and Barceloneta beach in 20 min. Barcelona is a very walkable city. The only time we took a taxi was to get to Park Güell and Montjuïc.

What Rindaroy said. It was probably my favorite experience going for gin and tonics at Gracia near the square.

Looking very much forward to dinner in Somodó in Gràcia in a couple of months, raving reviews and affordable, four course gourmet lunch with wine included is 20€.

Thank you for the responses. I guess what I'm trying to find is a 2-bedroom apartment off the Ramblas because I know it is noisy and close to Plaza Catalunya. I don't want to have to walk too far to get to the Ramblas. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thank you.

I use to stay in medieval and vibrant El Born, fabulous tapas bars, restaurants and sights and a cradle of Catalan identity and culture. Close to "everything", a short walk to Las Ramblas and plenty of apartments for rent.

Here are 15 apartements right in the heart of El Born, but also plenty of other possibilities: http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/deci...rne.en-gb.html

beware thinking that using the metro will save you walking - some of the correspondences are so long you'll feel that you've walked all the way anyway.

kimhe as usual has the right idea.

As they say, El Born is another great neighborhood. Gracia is probably more expensive. Both of them are really enjoyable
