GPS etc

Just wanted to pass along that I just got back from two weeks in Scotland, and found that a GPS from home (Garmin) with a UK micro-SD chip worked flawlessly driving 1000 + miles throughout the Highlands and Lowlands. It was a real pleasure not to have to pour over maps and pay close attention to every exit and route sign whilst driving. It really did perform extraordinarily well. I had a backup map on me at all times. And it's a lot cheaper to bring your own GPS then to rent one there.

One other tip was that I had a 3 day British Flexi rail ticket I used in England and Scotland. After the first day was stamped and the pass activated, not one conductor stamped any of the other two days on the many trains we were on. In hindsight, I would have purchased the two day pass, and if stamped on the second day just bought tickets for the third day. I know it's taking a chance, but I could have saved some real $$$ on four of these tickets
Cheers
Pete
