Got two business class freq. flyer tickets on AA into Frankfurt. Italy is where we want to go but couldn't get FF tickets anywhere other than FRA for our dates. So then I was looking on the Lufthansa website and saw I could get roundtrip tkts from FRA to Bologna for $107 each, so purchased those. We intend to go right to Stuttgart from FRA, and see the Mercedes and Porsche museums. Two nights in Stuttgart and then we'll fly to Bologna and spend four nites. Want to do tour of the Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. museums. (This part is for my husband, the car nut). So now we have four more nights before we have to be at the airport in Bologna to fly back to FRA. So now what do we do?
Let me mention that my husband has had serious health issues, so I'd like a base to stay for these other four nites - don't want to rush around from place to place, want to relax, enjoy some scenery, some good food and wine.
Thinking of either Stresa or Bellagio. What do you think or can you offer any other suggestions.
Got FF tickets to FRA in May, and bought tkts from FRA to Bologna. Now what?

It's too late now, but did you try flying into LGW and onto Bologna on British Airways? It is possible with miles if it was available on your dates.
I just booked SHV-BRU and return NCE-LGW then LGW-DFW--DFW-SHV for 3 persons using miles. I was amazed that it was available for May 27.
From Bologna, I would probably train over to Venice for those nights.
But I don't understand the part about the Italian car museums---are they in Bologna?
I spent alot of tine on the phone with an AA AAdvantage agent and couldn't find anything into any Italian city in busines class on the dates I wanted so settled on FRA, which will work out fine because we can go to Stuttgart.
The car museums and factories are in Modena and we are going to take a tour offered by (I think it is) motorstars.org. They''ll pick us up in Bologna. Then the rest of the time we will explore Bologna, and take the train (day trips) to Florence and Ravenna.
