You could do a Zagat search, select for neighborhood and Indian cuisine, and read the reviews. I find Zagat reviews to be generally credible; you know, ignore the extreme reviews.
Ate just last week at Moti Mahal very close to the South Kensington tube stop at 3 Glendower Place. Great Indian cuisine! Highly reccommended.

Also along the same stretch of Old Brompton Rd is a very good gelato shop. I don't recall the name but its right across the street from the Lamborghini dealer.
AND... We had great Kebabs just down the street at Bosphorus Kebab shop.
Much more than you asked for but this little stretch of Old Brompton was a real food find for us!
Our favourite is Bengal Clipper in Shad Thames by Tower Bridge: http://www.bengalclipper.co.uk/
Another favourite is by Whitechapel http://tayyabs.co.uk/ not sure if they are open for lunch so you may need to try to make a booking. They get very busy and its BYOB.
And another good one off Oxford Circus: http://gaylordlondon.com/
Unless you've got a very specific yen for the cookery of a specific region, I really wouldn't travel out of my way in London for an South Asian restaurant on the basis of a web recommendation from someone whose tastes you've got no way of judging.
There are hundreds of good South Asian restaurants everywhere in London - though admittedly thousands of less good ones. But you're never more than 10 mins' walk from somewhere close to outstanding.
The most consistently informed and reliable web writing on London's South Asian cuisine is in Time Out, which I suggest you start with. Zagat's OK, and shows you the range of criteria customers, as opposed to professional critics, are concerned with.
No-one's got the faintest idea what your criteria are. Zagat gives you a better chance of finding comments whose criteria match yours.
Apparently this is where the Westminster mover and shakers eat

.....which may attract or repel you
Bad question - this is fish + shotgun + barrel type stuff. Central London is loaded with good Indian restos. Check timeout.com for what may be more specific suggestions by region. Otherwise, you might as well ask for a good trattoria in Rome.

Just don't stop them taking their bike through a gate.
A few pints, a curry, then off home on my bike - seemed like a good idea at the time....
It was in The Sun, so it must be true
